Frequently Asked Questions

Enkidu Light is a high-brightness, audio-synchronized light system designed to support hypnagogic-style experiences, deep relaxation, meditation, and brainwave-entrainment style sessions using precisely timed light pulses—often paired with music or sound journeys.

Not like a microphone or beat-reactive party light. Enkidu responds to a dedicated high-frequency audio control signal embedded in the session audio (commonly around a 19 kHz carrier tone). That control signal is what drives the light pulses accurately.

Typically WAV or MP3. You can play them like normal music files.

Most systems rely on dedicated apps/software with fixed parameters and limited creative control. Enkidu is an open, audio-driven system: the light program lives inside a normal audio file (WAV/MP3), so you can play sessions on almost any device and create/edit sessions with standard audio tools (DAWs). This makes Enkidu more flexible, easier to scale for groups, and easier to customize—without locking you into a single app ecosystem.

Yes. Because the light program is encoded in audio and can be authored in a DAW (like Ableton), you can align light pulse timing with musical structure—tempo, transitions, intensity changes, and more—so the music and light “lock together” rather than drifting.

No. Any device that can play audio can run sessions (phone, tablet, computer, dedicated music player). You simply connect the audio output to the lamp input.

Yes. Enkidu is designed for creators. You can build sessions using common audio tools (DAWs) and control parameters such as:

  • pulse frequency patterns,

  • brightness shaping over time,

  • smooth vs sharper modulation styles,

  • transitions and “journey” style programming,

  • synchronization with music.

Enkidu’s hypnagogic mode is typically bright white (depending on the model/config). Many “colors” people report are often internally perceived visuals (closed-eye visuals), not necessarily the panel emitting multiple colors.

People respond differently, but a well-designed session can leave you with a “state shift” (relaxed, clear, energized, calm). Your experience depends on sleep, stress level, sensitivity, the session design, and how consistently you use it.

No. Enkidu is a wellness/experiential tool and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.

Who should avoid strobing light sessions?

If you have a history of photosensitive epilepsy, seizures, or strong sensitivity to flashing lights, consult a qualified clinician before use and avoid strobing content. If you’re unsure, start with gentler sessions and lower brightness.

Connect the audio output of your player (phone/tablet/PC/music player) to the lamp input like you would connect headphones or a speaker. Then play the session file.

Yes. Many facilitators use a headphone amp/distribution solution (or multi-transmitter setups) depending on the room. If you tell us your group size and preference (wired vs wireless), we can suggest a clean configuration.

The time it takes to see results will differ from person to person and will depend on the goals of the client. Sessions involving relaxation should relax the client gradually over 6-10 minutes. Relaxation is a very noticeable effect, whereas, with a concentration session, it may take a few sessions to realize what effect it is having. Also, some sessions are meant for long-term changes, and for them, it may take weeks or months to notice an effect.

Yes, two people can easily share the experience. Either lying down or sitting next to each other. For a group of people, you need to put the light further away to cover a larger area which results in losing some of the light intensity and there the effect, especially in light therapy.
In the case of larger groups, you use two or more light machines at the same time. Enkidu is designed in a way that allows you to connect multiple devices and run all of them with synchronicity.

Although most children love the experience, you need to be sure that they are not sensitive to flickering light which might cause seizures. We recommend they be examined by a physician for epilepsy or illnesses that may contribute to seizures before the use of this device, as they are more susceptible to seizures.
